Took the day off to do my taxes with JT and his family. Once we finished our taxes , it was already pretty late - and we were starving. JT was pretty determined to visit Earl Canteen, which has been on our wish list for an extremely long time.
Address: 275 Exhibition St, Melbourne 3000, Victoria
Tuesday: Dinner
Wednesday - Saturday: Lunch & Dinner
Sunday: Lunch
With was at least eight gourmet sandwiches to choose from, with a range of meats and vegetables, the only issue we had at Earl Canteen was deciding what we should order. We ordered a lunch box each and decided to cut our sandwiches up to share.
I love fish, so it didn’t take me long to decide that I’ll be ordering the Fish Finger. I was delighted with the beer batter flathead fillets which were absolutely delicious with the the lemon tartare.
The Chicken & Chips was perfectly complimented by the crushed peas and bacon marmalade. The addition of potato crisps really brought us back to the days in high school when I used to put crisps in my sandwich.
The pork belly was probably the favourite. The pork was tender, the skin was crispy and powerful flavours of pork was well balanced with the coleslaw.
We didn’t expect the salad to be so tasty, after all, it was just broccoli. It was cooked perfectly and the dressing was light and flavoursome. It left me curious about the salads on their menu.
Once we finally finished our sandwiches and the salad, it was time for something sweet. The lemon friand was amazing and a much welcome treat. It was lovely and the lemon sauce was tart and sweet.

If I worked closer, this would have definitely have been a place I’d come to spoil myself at lunch. Unfortunately, I will have to hang in there, until I take another weekday off~ *salutes*
